OPL Blood Drive Falcon FieldThe Civil Air Patrol at Falcon Field and the American RedCross, Phoenix, conducted an Operation Pulse Lift blood drive atFalcon Field on July 5, 2025. Channel 5 news was on site to broadcasta live interview with Lt Col Robert Ditch as the blood drive gotunderway. OPL is CAP’s largest mission since World War II and thelargest Disaster Relief/Humanitarian mission in its history.
NASA Wx Mission
NASA Wx MissionOn July 12, 2025, CAP Cadets from Sky Harbor Composite Squadron 301met at Falcon Field to record weather-related information for a NASAWeather Data Collection mission.  “The goal is to identify if there isor isn’t humidity in the air at different altitudes in this part ofthe country.” 2nd Lt Lisa Ceballos and five cadets participated indata collection. Data is uploaded into a globe tracker app, and NASAwill pull the information from the app. Squadrons from all over thecountry are participating in this four-month mission.
Memorial Day Tribute
Memorial Day TributeFalcon Composite Squadron 305 participated in a solemn Memorial Day service on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery in Mesa, AZ. Early Saturday morning, cadets placed American flags near the headstones of fallen heroes throughout the cemetery as a tribute to their sacrifice. The ceremony featured patriotic readings, a wreath-laying, and the assembly of a ceremonial Field Cross by Civil Air Patrol cadets.

2025 AZ Wing Conference
2025 AZ Wing ConferenceThe 2025 Arizona Wing Conference of the Civil Air Patrol was held from April 11 to 13 in Chandler, Arizona . This annual event brought together CAP members from across the state for professional development, networking, and recognition of achievements. Attendees participated in workshops, leadership sessions, and ceremonies celebrating the contributions of Arizona Wing's 1,500 volunteers.

Ambassador Sichan SivAmbassador Sichan Siv has been a member of the CAP for over three decades. He initially joined in 1990 while working at the White House, training as a pilot with the National Capital Wing in Washington, D.C. After a period of lapsed membership as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (2001-2006), he rejoined CAP in the mid-2000s. As of 2024, he serves as a lieutenant colonel in the Texas Wing's Alamo Composite Squadron in San Antonio.

2025 Commander's CallCommander’s Call is a formal portion of a squadron meeting where the unit commander speaks directly to all members—cadets, senior members, or both. It usually happens monthly and serves as a time to share important updates from wing, region, or national levels, recognize promotions, awards, or member achievements, reinforce CAP core values and mission focus, and provide a big-picture view of squadron goals and upcoming activities.

Arizona Wing Op Ex 2025MESA, Ariz. (March 15, 2025) – Civil Air Patrol squadrons from across Arizona participated in astatewide exercise designed to improve their search and rescue and disaster relief capabilities both onthe ground and in the air. The goals were to improve skills in tracking lost people or downed aircraftwith location equipment, update aircraft radios, move personnel to needed locations, and a simulatedreal-world assignment to provide photo updates of traffic on an interstate highway in northern Arizonafollowing a recent storm.

Ground School with Lt Joe WoganLt. Joe Wogan of Falcon Squadron 305 led the unit’s first ground school class on February 1, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the squadron’s aerospace education program. The 12-week program is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of flight theory, navigation, and aviation safety, preparing them to take the FAA pilot certificate. Flight Officer, Noah Brayton, will be assisting Joe during the three month process.

2024 Commander's CallA Commander’s Call in the Civil Air Patrol is a structured, leadership-led portion of a squadron meeting where the unit commander addresses the entire squadron, including cadets and senior members. Typically held monthly, this session serves as a key opportunity for the commander to communicate directly with members about matters affecting the unit.  It includes important updates from Wing, Region, or National CAP—and allows the commander to outline expectations, reinforce Civil Air Patrol’s core values, and set priorities for upcoming training or events.
Royal Air Force Cadet Memorial
Royal Air Force Cadet MemorialNovember 10, 2024 a memorial service was held at Mesa Cemetery to honor the 23 fallen Royal Air Force Cadets that trained during WWII at Falcon Field in Mesa. The cadets are buried in a "British Plot" that is forever England. "Missing Man Formation Flyby" of vintage aircraft was followed by Civil Air Patrol placing 10 Wreaths at the base of the grave marker as part of the ceremony.

Civil Air Patrol Meritorious Service AwardCivil Air Patrol distinguished itself by meritorious achievement in the execution of Operation Pulse Lift, one of the most exhaustive and effective life-saving missions in its storied 82-year history. Civil Air Patrol personnel supported the unprecedented donation, collection, and transportation of blood using more than 800 members nationwide. The operation highlighted CAP's close partnership with the American Red Cross Blood Services.

Legacy School - MesaIn honor of Veteran's Day, the Civil Air Patrol was asked to present the colors for the children of Legacy School in Mesa.The presentation of colors is "a military tradition in which a color guard carries flags to show respect and patriotism at ceremonies an events.The Falcon Field Composite 305 presented colors in honor of Veteran's Day.
Navajo Air Lift 2024
Navajo Air Lift 20242024 will mark the 40th Annual Navajo Christmas Airlift. Pilots from across the Southwest fly needed items of clothing, blankets, toys, toiletries, and food to Gallop, New Mexico. "This remarkable effort is designed to uplift the spirits of underprivileged youth. John Giddings and Patrick Sullins accompanied CAP pilots Dave Roden and Mike Haley on the flight. (Nov 14, 2024)

It focuses on STEM, character education, and physical fitness for a healthy and drug-free lifestyle. The program is in its 18th year and has impacted three-quarters of a million students nationwide.

Cockpit Close-Up!Cockpit Close-Up! is held on the first Saturday of the month at the main terminal at Falcon Field in Mesa, AZ. Volunteer pilots open their aircraft to families and answer questions about flying, training, and aviation careers. Civil Air Patrol was spotlighted this month and was attended by dozens of children with siblings and parents. There were smiles, giggles and lots of questions when children sat in the pilot seat talking to pilots
